- The notion that government destroys monopolies is a myth. It actually
- creates them. Make a list of companies that you think are monopolies. Then
- mark off which ones exist under special permission/regulation. Power,
- telephone and other types come to mind first. I would be interested in
- finding a company that was a true monopoly (or pretty close) that acheived
- that status without government intervention. Probably some exist, but they
- are much more rare than the other kind.
